*** SPECIAL SATURDAY NIGHT DINNER ***
Building on the great feedback we've gotten from the past dinners, we are offering this option again. It gives everyone a relaxed, easy way to spend more time with the speakers and club members in an informal environment. We are hosting this dinner at the Fayette County Extension Office. It is located just behind Central Equipment at 1140 Red Mile Place. MAP Our speaker this year is Dennis D'Angelo from the Dayton Ultralight Club. He and his fellow club members will describe what went into their Dayton to Kitty Hawk flight this year, and what they got out of it. Join us for their stories, video and slides both for the fun of it and to learn some of what it takes to pull off a large-group cross country of these proportions. We've reduced the price the dinner tickets to $15 this year, and have a really nice buffet lined up with lots of entree choices. It should be a really good time for everyone! To purchase tickets, send a check made out to BUG to:
621 Woodduck Lane Georgetown, KY 40324 Tickets orders must be received by January 22. You can pick up your tickets at the seminar Saturday. Dinner tickets will not be sold during the seminar unless there are unsold tickets still available at that time. For more information, email Jim Price at JPrice7284@aol.com or call him at 502-868-9457. |
The agenda is to discuss Preventive Maintenance, then do a complete top-end tear down (we will not be splitting the crankcase), cylinder and piston measurement, decarb, and reassembly. Bring your tools and plan on getting your hands dirty. If you are bringing your own engine, all fluids must be drained and gearboxes removed. Bring your B-Boxes as we may have time for 100 hour service also.
Presented by Alan Laymon of Solo Aviation. SoLo Aviation is Kentucky's only Authorized Rotax Repair Station. Many common maintenance items will be on hand and available for purchase. Additionally, SoLo Aviation can supply any other parts needed...just let them know what you need in advance.
Pre-register for Sunday's Maintenance Seminar by contacting Alan Laymon at 859-336-8494 or Alan@SoLoAviation.com. If you are bringing your own engine, you must register in advance. This will ensure that we will have enough workbenches, gasket sets etc.
Cost - $40.00 per person or $10.00 for BUG members
(BUG membership is $25.00 per year...Join at the seminar!)

Prizes From Our Sponsors Every year, we have sent every single attendee home with a prize of some sort. It is the generosity of these companies that allows us to attract more pilots and wannabe's each year. Pilots may think they are coming for the free goodies, but the real prize they win is learning to fly, build and maintain their dreams safely. These select organizations have made substantial contributions to ensure the success of this and previous safety seminars. Without the patronage of community-minded companies like these, our sport would surely suffer. These generous raffle prizes are ultimately what make our seminar financially possible. When you deal with these vendors and organizations, please be sure to thank them for allowing pilots to become safer at seminars like ours. We could not provide this service without them.
For information on becoming a sponsor this year or next, please contact Gerald Gilpin at 502-839-3702 or ggilpin@dcr.net

Standing Sponsors The following organizations have each contributed in their own special way over the years. Our continued gratitude goes out to them. Please extend your own gratitude and patronage to them.

Can't make it this year? We've got you covered! You'll be able to watch and listen to Saturday's seminars on your computer as they happen, and ask the speakers in near-realtime via email. So no matter if you live in New Zealand, Italy or southern California, you can still enhance your flying safety. Check back on this page the day of the seminar for the link to watch the seminar in Real Video.
Having said that, the sessions we can broadcast on-line account for less than half of the weekend's activities. If you can come in person, don't even think about the on-line video...just come on down and get in on the networking, the sessions that are not broadcast online, the dinners, the BFI seminar, the Engine/Maintenance Seminar, all of the prizes available (online participants will have opportunities to win only a few of the door prizes, not all), the vendor displays and static displays, and the parking lot open-trunk swap meet, not to mention the late nights in the Campbell House Inn's lounge with King Louis.
If you plan on watching online, please TEST YOUR BROWSER now to make sure you be able to tune in on Saturday. You may need to download software from RealVideo to watch. Please do this now, as you don't want to miss the first speaker while you try to get the software installed.
On the day of the seminar, come back to this page and there will be a link to the live video. NOTE: You will get an error or a blank screen any time we are not broadcasting. We will be on and off air before the seminar, and expect to be down again during part of lunch. So if you get an error, just try back in a few minutes.
